The U.S. Coast Guard considers Lake of the Ozarks the third most dangerous waterway in the country.
And it's a reputation that frustrates locals.
Over the holiday weekend, 26 BWI's were issued to people who were drinking and boating this holiday weekend.
Locals say it's just a small portion of people who give the lake a dangerous reputation.
The bar opens early at Topsider's. "It's definitely a party atmosphere," says bartender Evan Busen.
The laid back restaurant mostly caters to families during the day. "Everybody comes down here on vacation to relax and enjoy their time in the sun," adds Busen.
Manager Kate Ebling says most of her customers drink responsibly. "I think Party Cove can create a bad image for the Lake."
Party Cove is an area of the Lake where thousands of boaters tie their boats together and drink. She says it's that area of the lake that gives these waters a dangerous reputation.
Ebling adds, "they're all tied up and they start swaying and the lines get out of control and boats are getting messed up. That's how people fall in the water."
Water Patrol says add alcohol into the mix, and a beautiful day at the lake turns deadly.
"A large number of our fatalities has not necessarily been due to intoxicated drivers but due to intoxicated passengers who have fallen overboard," says Matt Walz of the Missouri State Water Patrol.
Ten people have died each year for the past three years at Lake of the Ozarks.
"Some people do have the attitude that drinking goes hand in hand with being on the water," says Walz.
He says it's frustrating, because most days the lake rats are families, not drinkers. "Of all the people you have out there you probably have 5% of the boaters that are creating 95% of the problems."
He says lakeside access to alcohol can sometimes make those problems worse.
"More bars on the water so you are going to probably get a bigger percentage of people that are drinking and boating."
Ebling says that's why bartenders are told to stop serving people who are clearly drunk. "We have no problem cutting someone off or calling them a cab," she adds.
If law enforcement picks up someone who's been overserved and finds out where that person was drinking, not only will the bar be fined but the bartender as well.
Bartenders say they're well aware of the dangers and don't want to turn on the evening news and find out someone they served has drowned.

 Tell me a little about Grand Lake JC
Well grand lake is a really big lake. it's 1,300 miles of shoreline, & home to about 15,000 genial residents from Monday through Thursday. The lake is always packed on major holidays you will find a mixed group of ages. The best party & hot spots are found in the following coves : The drip aka Dripping Springs , Party Cove , & Woodward hollow , The drip is our favorite spot. You will find live bands playing on the big holidays and good fun friendly people.
Tell me about you and your website & what made you think of starting a business like this?
Well I am 26 years old my name is JC. I got the idea of for Grand Lake Gone Wild a few years back. I was at Grand Lake with a group of people and there where girls in this cove standing on top of a boat. Guys where throwing them beads and they just went wild. I did a little research and found out that there where NO websites or other companies out there doing anything fun with Grand Lake. Next thing you know I was building the website. The whole point of our website is for the people at Grand Lake. We want it to be a community site kind of like MySpace or face book but more wild and fun. We have forums where people can post information about there parties or dating ads or just sell stuff , We have a live chat room , A photo upload section where people can upload there lake photos , Event's will be posting information on Grand Lake and what's going on are goal is to cover Oklahoma in general lakes,clubs etc , We also offer contests, some times we will run bikini contests or other fun contests , We have a online store soon we will offer swimsuits , hot shorts , more t-shirts and misc party stuff such as beer bongs and water guns & more . We also offer advertisers very cheap advertising rates ,
Rumor has it Grand Lake is a retirement community, obviously its not. What gives it that impression, and what are you doing to change it?
I would say Grand Lake is growing. Yeah it use to be a slow lake, But now you will find all types of ages, We are trying are best to show people Grand Lake knows how to party. and bring out more people to the lake
What's the craziest thing you have seen at Grand Lake?
Well I have seen a ton of crazy stuff on Grand Lake. Wow that's a tuff one. I am not sure if I would say this was the craziest thing. But a few years ago on Labor day at the drip, We had a TON of Girls dancing on tables and just going wild. It was a fun year 2007. In my line of work there's never a craziest thing, It's all crazy at Grand Lake
What does the future hold for Grand Lake Gone Wild.com?
Well that's hard to say. Hopefully will blow up and become more popular. We would like to work with other people just like you guys at Party Cove USA, Have a store on the lake , Host parties year long, you name it we want to do it.
Have you ever dropped your camera equipment into the lake ?
Yes, A lot of people ask this , I have done it all , I just dropped a HD camcorder in the lake a few weekends ago, we lost some really good shots , and this Labor Day weekend I was throwing out beads and I almost lost a nice digital camera, When your working on the lake just plan on dropping stuff in it. It's the hazards of the job
