Lake Washington

Lake Washington is the largest natural lake in King County and the second largest in Washington State.  It is bordered by the cities of Seattle on the west, Bellevue and Kirkland on the east, Renton on the south and Kenmore on the north, and surrounds Mercer Island. It is fed by the Sammamish River at its north end and the Cedar River at its south.

Lake Washington received its present name in 1854 after Thomas Mercer suggested it be named after George Washington, as the new Washington Territory had been named the year before. The city of Mercer Island occupies the island of the same name, in the southern half of the lake. Beautiful views of  Mt. Rainier can been seen from almost every location on the lake.

The party is ending.

Pierce County Sheriff Marine Services Unit deputies will begin “educating” boaters about the new “underway only” rule on Fairweather Cove – also known as Party Cove – in north Lake Tapps that goes into effect this weekend.

“We are not going to write tickets right away,” said Sheriff’s spokesman Ed Troyer. “We will have signs made and putting information out there about the new rule.”

The new rule bans motorized vessels from anchoring, drifting or tying together in the cove located between Tacoma and Driftwood points. The move essentially will make the cove a "no parking" zone and will remain in effect until Aug. 31, 2010.

If boats have to keep moving, partying together will be difficult.
The hope-for outcome is that party rafters will get used to the designated rating area along Dike 4 near the Pierce County Park.

Troyer said anyone who ignores a first warning will be ticketed. The fine is $123.

As of Friday, the new rule wasn’t yet posted on the Sheriff Department’s Web site under watercraft regulations.

The new rule is the latest effort to address party problems at the Lake Tapps cove that have had cove residents up in arms over the noise and other problems for the past six years.

In 2005 the county prohibited "rafting" - tying or otherwise connecting boats together - except at a designated area at the north end of the lake. Last year it boosted the fine for rafting to $615.

Cove residents said the rafting law didn’t stop the practice or the partying and urged a more pro-active approach. A number of years ago the county required boats to remain underway in a nearby cove.

Opponents say the designated Dike 4 rafting area subject boats to rough water. Others fear the rule will push boaters to other coves on the lake.

Amanda's Blog - 7/1/09

Location: Crescent Bar WA

A resort town on the Columbia River located near the Gorge Amphitheatre and the small town of Quincy Washington.  It takes only about 3 hours to get there from Seattle.

Crescent Bar offers great camping, boating and vacationing for the family (only on non holiday weekends). I would NOT recommend taking a family there on Memorial Day or Labor Day because it turns into a huge, raging party.

Prepare yourself on a holiday weekend to wait about an hour to get in to the Sand Trap, which is the local bar in town (serious like the only bar in town) and make sure you have a pretty good buzz going there; it will take a while to get a drink from the bar, and bring some cash to get in but you will find hot chicks riding the bull on Saturdays during the summer.

You can go to crescentbarresort.com they have great camp spots, a marina (for moorage) with a boat launch,  also a couple great swimsuit shops, pizza, and ice cream

ABSOLUTLY THE BEST PLACE TO GO FOR Memorial Day, and Labor Day because south of Crescent Bar, lies the BEST sandbar in Washington!!  Where you can always find pasties, boobs, beer bongs, jello shots, fast boats, music…. You will probably hear Apple bottom jeans, and I’m on a boat, at least 10 times and girls making out.

This is where we went last weekend. I know it was not a holiday weekend but we went there for a 50th birthday party, and created our own raging party.  There were about 30 people that came for the birthday. It was good times there was, pole dancing, jello shots, a bunch of drunks, and even some bull riding.

Oh and bulldogs can swim! Check my pics on the Lake Washington Page.

Till next week….
