Oklahoma Governor to Lower Boating Alcohol Limits

GRAND LAKE, OKLA. - Drinking and boating is a popular Summer hobby for some 4-State residents, but one new Oklahoma law may be shortening that party time.

The bill would crack down drinking and driving boats in Oklahoma waters.

Currently the blood alcohol level for boating is 0.10, but the new bill would lower that to driving limit of 0.08.

The bill has passed through the House and Senate and is waiting for the governor's approval.

Grand Lake boaters we spoke with agree with lowering the limit because driving a boat is just as dangerous as driving a car.

"I've seen several lake patrol incidences where they pull boats over for speeding and no wake zones and things of that nature, but I don't know if I've never seen one pull them over and check for blood alcohol level while boating," says fisherman Rick Dawes.

Dawes says the law should be changed, but says it will be difficult to police the waters with so few officers on Grand Lake.
